Hat sizes are sometimes confusing. Hat makers and sellers do not agree what size a hat will be. There will always be slight variations in sizes because they are not usually the same from hatter to hatter. Converting sizes also causes slight variations to occur, specially if you do not understand the differences.
The most common reason why hats sizes may vary is because ribbons press the crown of the hat and sweatbands tend to reduce inner espace. A change in temperature may also affect the trimming of the hat expanding or contracting the fibers.
Ribbons are normally made out of polyester.
Sizes in panama hats might vary in one CM size due to these circumstances, which are obviously out of our control. If you take off ribbons and sweat bands and then measure the hat size with a size ring you will see it is the exact size it was blocked and pressed in the very begining.
When you receive your first merchandise, you have to analyze these variations, if there is any. Thus, you will have a clearer view of our sizes for future references.
We manufacture almost all size designations: Small, Medium and Large . Most distributors sell our hats in actual hat sizes, such as 71⁄8, 71⁄4, 73⁄8, etc. In Ecuador, we measure our hats in Cm, however, if you select sizes from the chart bellow, we will match the size you require in Cm. More than one size is generally clasified in the range S, M, L; even if you order hats with different sizes, if they fall into the same sizing category they might only have the labels S, M, L and XL unless otherwise required!
Please understand that XL or 77⁄8 hats are very large hats, they are not woven in the same quantities and weaving them requires additional time and effort from our weavers. If your order includes XL hats, we will need a few additional days to process it. The cost of XL hats will have a 1 usd surcharge per hat approximately.
